8 Reasons to Watch "The Librarians"

The Librarians
is a TNT show that, on Wednesday Dec. 13th (8pm), will go into it's 4th season. It follows a group of people who find and protect magical artifacts. It is based on the original movie trilogy The Librarian. The show premiered in December of 2014 and has not lost it's momentum since.

I got into the series because of Executive Producer Dean Devlin and actor Christian Kane, who also worked on one of my all-time favorites, Leverage. But I stayed for so many more reasons.

1. The Magic

As long as I can remember I've loved the fantasy genre. Magic has always been so cool to me--of course. The idea that there is a library full of magical artifacts and historical information about them is absolutely incredible. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that world?

2. The Characters

Though we follow the characters as a unit, each one is an individual. Something I oftentimes see in shows that have a group of protagonists, is them all feeling half-created. In this, each character has their own inner workings, complete with charms and flaws alike. They have their own backgrounds--ones that aren't immediately revealed. As someone who favors character driven stories, this is absolutely perfect. Not to mention, they're all on an equal playing field--for the most part--they all have strengths and are able to work together to defeat the villains.

3. The Villains

While this could be in the character category, I wanted to separate it. Rarely, in this series, are the villains relentlessly evil, they all have reasons/backgrounds that equate to their actions. Motives that make sense. They're not mindless "bad guys" created to give our protagonists a "threat of the week," they're well-written/thought out evils that, in this world, make sense.
My favorites so far were The Fictionals, the villains coming from books in season 2.

4. Humor

This show is funny. Each character has a quirk and those quirks allow for a great amount of humor that is so refreshing in the midst of magical chaos. It doesn't feel painfully stiff or stressful, it's easy to watch--which is a very good thing.

5. The Actors

They're really awesome. The cast includes Rebecca Romijn, Lindy Booth, John Harlan Kim, Christian Kane, occasionally Noah Wyle, and, wait for it, John Larroquette, yeah...you read that right.
Each of these actors does an excellent job of keeping their characters fresh and exciting, I adore them and find them to be absolutely perfect for their roles (as if that was ever in question).

6. The Adventures

Each episode is a new adventure, with a new place, a new threat, and new magic. It remains fascinating and fun with each episode--never tiring out.

7. Geek-fest

With each character being a genius in a different field, there's plenty of nerdy fun to be had. With references to Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes, Back to the Future and so much more, it's a Geek-fest of magical fun.

8. It's easy to keep up with

There are tons of television shows out there, I don't even know how many, but none of them are The Librarians. This show is so much fun to watch. I can spend an entire day watching it and not get bored because that's how entertaining it is. You don't have to sit on the edge of your seat in deep focus either, it doesn't tire you out in that way. You can sit back and enjoy it without worrying that you're not getting all the necessary information (that you may/may not need later). Even if you miss an episode you won't be completely lost in the next one.
You can watch it without any worry. Which, as someone who needs to multitask, I love.

Look, I could go on for ages but instead of me taking up more of your time I want to send you to one of the best shows ever. On Hulu, you can watch seasons 1-3, and on Wednesday Dec 13th, at 8pm on TNT, you can watch the premiere of season 4.
