Wild by Cheryl Strayed
Hello everyone,
(new font, scary) I have returned from Maine (I was sick for the week following my return -.- of course, which is why it took so long to come back) and am now back with my beloved internet (I've got no friends). I did end up seeing a load of new movies and reading a few new books whilst being gone so I thought I would start giving you reviews of them.
I thought I would start with Wild by Cheryl Strayed. I read the book while in Maine and watched the movie the other day.
The movie was a good follow up to the book (to help with visualization) however it wasn't as good as the book (imo). There were parts missing and things changed (which I understand the need to exclude/change for time reasons). Reese Witherspoon was phenomenal as Cheryl (but I am a bit biased as I've loved Reese as an actress for pretty much my whole life). I will say this is not for younger audiences (I mean it is rated R) because there is bad language, nudity, and graphic content. (Just so you are aware).
Either way I definitely recommend reading and watching these if you're interested because it was very enjoyable.
Thank you for checking out my blog

"At twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life. With no experience or training, driven only by blind will, she would hike more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State--and she would do it alone. Told with suspense and style, sparkling with warmth and humor, Wild powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately healed her." (from the website, see below for link)I enjoyed the book very much. As you have probably figured out I'm not much of a biography "true-story" type of reader. This book had a lot for me to learn and understand whilst reading it. Ultimately it was a great read.
