The Addams Family Musical (UK Tour)
So on the 17th of May at 2:30 I was able to see the Addams Family musical. The easiest thing to say is I loved it. And that is the complete truth. But I feel like I should tell you more than that.
I got there about an hour early for the show (per usual for me, I'm either early or late--there is no in between). So, naturally, I spent some time at the bar/merch area. I bought a fancy brochure, a beanie (I can never have enough beanies, I am seriously obsessed)(and no I am absolutely not at all wearing this beanie while typing this...) and a key ring. (Also some water, because hydration is important--but that's boring)
I was sitting in the second row from the stage (which is amazing) and I was buzzing with excitement. I should mention I am a fairly big fan of Carrie Hope Fletcher , I started watching her videos about 4/5 years ago. Which is absolutely how I heard about this musical. Seeing her in person on stage was incredible for me. A year ago if you'd've told me I'd be seeing her on a stage in London I would've actually laughed. I experienced it and it's still insane.
Anyway, not only was her performance amazing (I seriously can't get over how awesome Carrie is), but so was everyone else's!
Samantha Womack and Cameron Blakely as Morticia and Gomez was so incredible. Every time I saw them on stage I was actually enthralled. I love those characters anyway, they're...life goals. The pair (Womack and Blakely) were captivating and so much fun to watch. Les Dennis as Fester was wonderful, He was funny and captured the character so greatly. Carrie as Wednesday I, of course, loved (though I might be extremely biased...I am listening to Pulled on YouTube right now) Valda Aviks as Grandma was truly perfect, she was hilarious and I loved every second of seeing her on stage. Grant McIntyre was awesome as Puglsey, I really enjoyed the entirety of his performance. Dickon Gough's portrayal of Lurch was so funny! And his singing was jaw-dropping; I loved it! Dale Rapley and Charlotte Page as Mal and Alice Beineke were really great, I loved seeing those characters on stage interacting with the Addams, it was really a fun thing to see. Oliver Ormson played Lucas Beineke, Wednesday's love-interest, and he was so awesome. I was actually able to meet him briefly outside.
He was so nice! But, of course, I have no idea how to talk to people and I was incredibly awkward. At first I was nervous to even ask for the picture because I don't actually do those things...ever. (Mostly from fear, which is my own problem). But not only did I forget what words were, I also forgot how my phone functions so it took me a good ten seconds to actually take the picture. I have been cringing at myself for the past two hours...yeah...still going too. And now I realize my glasses are foggy...I was in the rain for two hours and it was a weird mixture of warm and cold, which still makes no sense to me....
Anyway! The ancestors (Kathryn Barnes, Jessica Buckby, Perola Congo, Christopher D Hunt, Gavin Edin, Jacob Fisher, Kirsty Ingram, Rhona McGregor, Scott Paige, and Jak Skelly)! They were so incredible! I loved their involvement in the show! They are all so talented and I truly wish I could live up. But unfortunately for me, I'll just stick to complementing their awesomeness.
I now have much of the music stuck in my head and unfortunately I do not have a soundtrack specifically of these lovely souls singing these lovely songs. I will proceed to search with all my might on the internet to find every single song I can. I can't get it out of my head without listening to it.
But never mind that! My point is you should definitely go see The Addams Family! Even if you live halfway across the world and can't afford to travel here--hide in some rich dude's suitcase and come see it! I promise it's worth it. I honestly don't even feel like this whole post does the show justice. (I did keep it minimal to keep from spoiling it). Seriously, it is worth it and these people are so incredibly talented. I would go see the show a billion more times if I could.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet Carrie, but that's okay. She was working hard backstage on some press stuff and couldn't come out. I did stay for a while--I wouldn't be a Hopeful if I didn't, right?--but alas it didn't work to my benefit. I am so impressed by how talented she is and I am so thrilled that I found my way onto her channel however many years ago. Definitely scroll back up to the top and check it out for yourself. Trust me, she's wonderful.
