Jane Two by Sean Patrick Flanery

So, I recently read (spent the day yesterday on my couch reading) Jane Two by Sean Patrick Flanery.
This book came out earlier in the year and it took me way to long to actually get my hands on a copy.
I am a SPF fan, enjoying quite a few of the things he's been in such as The Boondock Saints (1&2), Ten Inch Hero, heck the Criminal Minds episode he was in is my favorite CM episode to date. He's a brilliant actor with a seemingly vibrant personality (I have yet to actually meet him in person, though I hold out hope). Basically he's awesome and I was so excited to read his book.

Let me give you the description (can be found on the website):
A young Mickey navigates through the dense Texas humidity of the 70's and out onto the porch every single time his Granddaddy calls him, where he's presented with the heirloom recipe for life, love, and manhood. But all the logic and insight in the world cannot prepare him to operate correctly in the presence of a wonderfully beautiful little girl who moves in just behind his rear fence. How will this magical moment divide Mickey's life into a "before and after" and permanently change his motion and direct it down the unpaved road to which only a lucky few are granted access?

Now if you've seen this blog before (or my YouTube channel) you probably know that I'm totally YA Fantasy trash and this probably doesn't seem like the kind of book I'd reach for. Which is the truth. If I didn't already know who Mr. Flanery was there's a good chance I would be intrigued by the awesome cover but may not actually decide this is the book for me.
But I definitely thank God I know who he is because this had become one of my favorite books. It is such a beautifully written story of raw life that I didn't know I loved. Mr. Flanery paints a wonderful world where a young boy is trying to navigate through life the best way he can with advice from the family around him (mostly his Granddaddy). Mickey's feelings towards Jane are described in the most unbelievable way that I've never seen before. Usually in the books I read love is written and described in a very similar way, over and over again it's usually the same thing just reworded.
In Jane Two, however, it's different. Love in this is written in an entirely new way that I absolutely adore.
Mr. Flanery's writing is incredible and I am still so enthralled by the story. I haven't read anything like it and I am grateful for that. I'd definitely read anything else he writes. (I also follow his blog, which is awesome)

I HIGHLY recommend going out (or online) and buying yourself a copy of this wonderful book.

Thanks for reading! I'll see you guys again soon.
(This whole house buying/selling business takes FOREVER)

OH, P.S. To Mr. Flanery (I doubt you'll actually read this but just in case): You're awesome. I loved your book, I think you're an incredible actor and an all around awesome human. I hope nothing here offended you (not sure what would but you never know) and I definitely hope that I'll be able to meet you some day to tell you these things in person. Also thank you for retweeting me, it made my week.
