My Bookshelves
Hey guys,
I recently reorganized my bookshelves--by "recently" I mean like 10 minutes ago I finished organizing them). There is something so refreshing about neat shelves for me (or mostly neat, as I am running out of space). I am fortunate enough to have my own space (I do still live at home) and for my birthday last year my mom set up a little "living room" for me in our loft. I have a loveseat, beanbag chairs, and my shelves. They sit across from my couch and hold my books, movies, games, television, and gaming consols (as well as some pictures and little trinkets). I spend a lot of time up here and love to look at all my books on display. Something about them makes me feel really happy and inspired.
Anyway, I figured (with this new organization) I would take you through the units and explain how I've organized them. This is something I always find really interesting to see from other bloggers or Booktubers. So let's get into it.
My shelves are these black cube ones from Walmart. I have three, two that stand upright and another that is on the side. So it creates a little entertainment center; perfect for the space as well.
(please excuse the dog toys).
As you can see, on either side I have pictures on the top. I also have a Hermione Granger wand from Universal Islands of Adventure and a few other things like that.
Also, a recently added the little strand on the wall which I got from the March FairyLoot box (click here to see that unboxing video). I put some postcards and buttons up on that.
For my organizing, I've always used alphabetical order--just because it was easy for me to keep track of and I liked the formality of it. But I started to realize, as I've been buying books at a faster pace now, that it's hard to keep them organized when you're having to add books to different sections. (I don't feel like this organization will be too different, but here's to hoping).
I was thinking about color coding, which I think is beautiful, but I really hated the idea of splitting up my series books. So, I decided I would keep the series books together and color code (to the best of my ability) the singles. (The one exception to this is my Ellen Hopkins books, which I put in the series shelves).
So, let's look shelf-by-shelf:
This is my "YouTuber Book" shelf. As you can see, all of the authors are YouTubers. (this shelf spills onto the next with John Green). I really like keeping all of them together just a way to keep track of them. I have the two Dan and Phil books (with an extra UK signed copy of DAPGO). I also have Lilly Singh's book, Hannah Hart's, Grace Helbig's, Tyler Oakley, Zoe Sugg, Carrie Hope Fletcher, and Louise Pentland. (And John Green on the next shelf over).
My "trinkets" are a Dan and Phil fandom bracelet, a voodoo doll from New Orleans that my dad sent me, and a postcard supporting Carrie Hope Fletcher's role as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family Musical Comedy (which I did go see, and loved!) (I do want to add that I adore other live-action incarnations of Wednesday; Lisa Loring and Christina Ricci--those are the only other's I've been able to see).
This shelf is a very randomized one. It holds the things that don't necessarily have another home on my shelves. (With the exception of the overflow YouTube books AKA the three John Green novels I own--I really want to get the others, I have read Paper Towns, just don't own it.).
I have a small book my mom gave me (which she got from a teacher in High School) that has a big list of life "instructions" which are really cute and inspirational. I have a miniature Wreck this Journal, which I have not wrecked all that much. Then one of the Scary Stories books (I used to have two more--all of them?--but idk what happened); Black Butler Vol 1; a collection of poetry from WWI soldiers that I got at the Imperial War Museum; my friend's novel Camp Marble Mouth; a Wiccan religion book (I really like learning about religion, I need to get more books on the subject); a Batman: Bloodstorm comic--which my wonderful author friend (CMM) bought me; a few magazines all featuring specific movies, tv shows, or YouTubers; Oh, The Places You Will Go! by Dr. Seuss, which my mom hid in my suitcase when I went to London; a pilot scripts for The Walking Dead, Supernatural, and Criminal Minds; The first two books (collection of volumes 1-12 and 13-24) of The Walking Dead comics; Crimes and Punishment; and Evil Serial Killers. (I like crime-based things).
Next is my Cassandra Clare shelf. I don't have all of the books (which I am very ashamed of, don't remind me of the horror--I do plan to fix that at some point). But I do have the tarot cards, some postcards, a little pin (both the postcards and pin were sent to me by Simon & Schuster--I think for a contest?), Jace's Stele which is modeled from the movie version, a button, and a bracelet. (I also have a necklace which I keep with my jewelry).
Next are all of the Maximum Ride books I own. I have Fang-Maximum Ride Forever, and then Volumes 1-8 of the Manga. And because I had room, I put the two Vampire Academy books I own on that shelf as well. I also put the Impala on this shelf because I wanted it somewhere and that worked.
Next is Wicked and Twilight
And the Dollanganger series, two House of Night books, and the Immortals
These are my movies and games, which sit on either side of my consols and two drawers underneath them. (I have more movies behind the ones you see, I just ran out of room).
This shelf is where I've put Sarah J Mass' books, I left a bit of room for more because I will be getting more. (I didn't have much room so stacking will occur).
Also, there is Dean, a little squid guy, and bookmarks.
Then I have Angelfire, The Mara Dyer series, and the Fallen series. With a little "Believe" thing that I got from my grandma.
My singles shelves are color-coded by the spines to the best of my ability. I started with a gold, then whites, then had a lot of blacks so I coded those based on any colored lettering/symbols they had. Then followed ROYGBIV from there. Of course
I ran out of room so stacking and hiding occured (there are some books behind the second shelf).
I'm not going to list these because there are so many and you can see the ones I have in the pictures.
Anyway! That's my bookshelves! All organized and nice. I am really pleased with this setup. I know color-coding can be controversial so please respect my decision on this, I also know they aren't perfect but I'm happy with where they are. If you have any questions about any of the books I own (such as where I got them or whether I enjoyed them or not--anything at all) do comment and I will be happy to talk about it.
I love my books very much and am so happy to have such nice shelves to put them on. All of the little trinkets I have also add so much to the shelves and really help them feel more like me. I have a lot of interest and I think my bookshelves really reflect me.
Thanks for reading! I hope you liked it. As I said, this is always something I find interesting to see from other bloggers so I figured, why not share how mine are? (I did post a video touring my bookshelves with the old organization, you can click here to see that if you'd like).
See you again soon!

(I also have a necklace which I keep with my jewelry).
This is my Harry Potter shelf. My wand wouldn't fit here and I like my pictures where they are (they'd take up the whole shelf) so instead of those I just have the Goblet of Fire candle I got in the FairyLoot box from March (2018). It smells amazing, though I haven't lit it yet because fire.
This is a multi-series shelf, as are the rest really. This is home to The Maze Runner, The Selection, Red Queen, and Daughters of the Moon.
Next is Wicked and Twilight
And the Dollanganger series, two House of Night books, and the Immortals
These are my movies and games, which sit on either side of my consols and two drawers underneath them. (I have more movies behind the ones you see, I just ran out of room).
This is kind of a loner shelf under my games because I needed the room. It has the Sweep series and my Ellen Hopkins books
This is where Shadow Falls, Need, and The Program are, as well as a little plushie sheep.
Finally, on the last series shelf, is Nevermore, Divergent, and the last book in the Hush Hush series (I had one slot left so...there that went). And Sam.
My singles shelves are color-coded by the spines to the best of my ability. I started with a gold, then whites, then had a lot of blacks so I coded those based on any colored lettering/symbols they had. Then followed ROYGBIV from there. Of course
